I've been a member of Hamm's Institute of Martial Arts for a little over a year and proud to be Mr. Hamm’s student.
I love being a part of this school because all the great friends I've made. This school is like my home away from home. I've been to competitions, preformed demonstrations, won medals, and learned loads of really cool things along the way. But most importantly, I made friends. Not only can i call them my friends, they are my teachers, my battle buddies, my comrades, and my family. They are always there for me, pushing me forward and helping me become not only a better Martial Artist, but also a happier, stronger, wiser, and more confident me. For that i am truly grateful. I have had many great memories at this school.

I started taking karate at Hamm’s Institute of Martial Arts in 2009, under the instruction of Chris Hamm. Since then I have noticed, improvement in my endurance and overall health. I have gained increased muscle tone in my legs and thighs. I am able to communicate effectively in my job. I am confident that if the time ever arose that I would be able to defend myself using the self-defense techniques that he teaches. Mr. Hamm’s instruction makes class fun and he also makes himself available for extra help during the Friday open sessions.

I'm a blue belt in Taekwondo. I started in April during 2009 and since then I've learned so many things like how to defend myself, and how to throw blocks, kicks and punches correctly. I've also learned an arsenal of self-defense moves to help me protect myself. I also use a weapon called a bo staff which is a strong wooden stick that can hurt people badly. I also know 13 combinations of kicks, blocks and punches. The number of techniques I've learned for kicks and punches are 22 and if I work harder I can learn new ones. Mr. Hamm is our instructor. He's a 2nd degree black belt, and one day I hope I'll be one.

Since I’ve started Tae Kwon Do almost three years ago, my life has changed in so many ways... My actions outside of class are determined by what I have learned in Tae Kwon Do and the discipline that I have received. I always think more clearly before I make any kind of action/decision because what I do now, may come back to haunt me later...
To me, the adult class feels like a second family. I say this because the friends I have made through Tae Kwon Do can never be replaced... The competition against others pushes me and others to our limits. I don’t push myself to be better than everybody else or establish myself as the best, but I use the competition to better myself as others use it for themselves... I have priceless memories and irreplaceable friends. How things turn out in the future, I can only predict that everything is going to continue to get better. Thank you Mr. Hamm.
